The future of mobility and safety is changing rapidly with smarter technology. The Tampa Connected Vehicle (CV) Pilot was one of three projects awarded funding in 2015 as part of USDOT's Connected Vehicle Pilot Deployment, with $17 million. The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA), along with its public and private sector partners, is responsible for the design, testing, and deployment of CV technology in downtown Tampa, with live implementation in July 2018.

The Tampa CV Pilot equipped buses, streetcars, privately owned vehicles, and pedestrians with connected vehicle technology enabling them to communicate vital information with one another and with elements of the transportation infrastructure. Receive a basic understanding of CV technology and its implications for urban mobility issues.

Learn about a multisector industry approach to integrated technology, lessons learned from the planning and implementation phase of the CV Pilot Deployment, public engagement and recruitment, and next steps as the project moves towards performance monitoring.
