New approaches were used in three distinct geographies to improve their plans. Dayton, Ohio, was able to customize its planning process to the unique needs of its neighborhoods, resulting in four targeted roadmaps to prioritize investments and catalyze long-lasting change. The Mountain West Story provides practical examples of how to tap community values and leverage community resources to maximize health equity benefits. The Florida Story shows how technology can be used to analyze and display large volumes of data, integrate input from multiple stakeholders, and improve communication with the public.
Each planning effort has a focus on equity. One used data to improve transparency and participation in the planning process, another tapped into community resources to maximize health equity, and the third prioritized planning in areas with the deepest inequities and histories of segregation.
