Course Details

The 2021 Code of Ethics update reaffirmed planners' commitment to equity. This renewed emphasis on equity is changing the way planners approach their work and breathing new life into the Code of Ethics Aspirational Principles. This presentation connects the dots between ethical principles and actual planning practice, helping ensure these lofty goals remain in the forefront of planners' minds and their work. The Code of Ethics Aspirational Principles are relevant to AICP members and all those who engage in the profession, and therefore should be familiar to all planners. This presentation is a reminder of planners obligation to promote equity in their work, as called for in the Code of Ethics Aspirational Principles. Presenters highlight the impetus for centering equity in the recently updated AICP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct while demonstrating how planners can and should translate ethical principles into action. This presentation reinforces the relevance of the AICP Code of Ethics and professional Conduct with practical application methods for planners to use in the practice of planning.
