Building an Equity Toolbox for Planners

Course Details

The course will provide an overview of approaches to advancing equity in decision-making processes, such as health impact assessments, equity analysis, and racial equity action plans.

As a case study, this session will also introduce how Chicago's Equity Decision Support Tool was developed, lessons learned from its application, and how local municipalities, Higher Ed, and CBOs may incorporate them into their processes.

As these processes support community decision-making and take into consideration different contexts, they provide opportunities for more equitable outcomes in a place-based approach.

• Compare different tools that help advance equity within decision-making processes in local government ​
• Understand how health equity in all policy approaches can support cross-sector and cross-departmental initiatives
• Incorporate components of Chicago's Equity Decision Support Tool into their local context for decision-making processes
