Realizing Housing in Small Towns

Course Details

Participants will glean insights from McCall's award-winning 2022 Local Housing Action Plan exemplar of how housing issues can be addressed through shared partnerships and a targeted approach with a newly formed program.

The course will then turn to Jackson and Teton County, WY which have mastered the development of hundreds of units annually. We will dissect the Town and County's action plan and its current updates on mitigation standards for various properties. For both case studies, we will examine how complex strategies and tools were distilled into actionable steps, focusing on the regulatory barriers to affordable housing common in many communities.

In each segment, participants can discuss, debate, and apply their insights, promoting a dynamic learning environment. The session’s design encourages active participation through audience polling and group brainstorming, ensuring attendees understand and can apply these lessons in their communities.
