The presentation reviews two regional freight plans - one for the Atlanta region and the other for the Macon, Georgia, area. Presenters touch on the planning process, methodologies, techniques for stakeholder engagement, and plan recommendations and outcomes. Learn about assessing regional freight network performance, balancing multimodal infrastructure considerations, and projecting freight traffic and demand, as well as examples of capital investments and policy strategies to improve system efficiency, access to jobs and economic development, and community compatibility.
Presenters offer examples of effective approaches to freight planning, highlight the importance of freight in Georgia and the southeast from economic and transportation perspectives, discuss the importance of land use in freight planning, and share project and policy recommendations.
