Sustainable Airport Planning: Philadelphia and NYC Best Practices

Airports often serve as the first and last stop on one's itinerary when visiting a city. For local residents, PHL, EWR, JFK, LGA, and others are often the first and last taste of home they experience while traveling. As gateways to and exemplars of those magnificent global cities, airports must represent the communities they serve and plan for their best interests in facing an uncertain climate future.

This presentation inspires planners to consider potential partnerships with their local and regional airports and how they fit into master planning as well as sustainability and resilience planning for the climate emergency. Lessons learned apply beyond the airport sector into the realms of master planning, sustainability, and public-private partnership.
