Matt Brandmeyer, AICP most recently served as the Community Development Director for the Village of Skokie, IL (pop. 67,824).  Prior to arriving in Skokie, Matt served as the Planning & Development Administrator for Madison County, IL (pop. 265,428) for nearly 10 years.  He served as the Planning Director for Creve Coeur, MO (pop. 17,833) and Project Planner in Chesterfield, MO (pop. 47,484).  Matt also spent several years working as part of the management team of The Koman Group, a private real estate developer, as well as running his own project management company.

Matt served on the St. Louis Metropolitan Section board for 9 years between 2010 and 2019, holding Treasurer, Vice-President, and President positions during his tenure.  He also served as the Assistant Director of the Illinois State Section and has served on the Illinois APA Legislative Committee.  Matt chaired the 2014 Missouri APA state conference, the 2017 St. Louis APA spring workshop, the 2017 Missouri APA state conference, and the joint Illinois State Section and St. Louis Section’s 2018 spring conference. 

Matt has spoken at several conferences and events on stormwater management, land use law, growth management, and form-based codes.  He is the co-creator of a six-part webinar for the APA on planning management which will air nationally in the spring of 2018.   

Under Matt’s leadership, his planning departments have received Outstanding Local Government Achievement (OLGA) by East-West Gateway three times; Green Business Challenge achievement/leadership award by St. Louis Regional Chamber of Commerce five times; and Outstanding Planning Award from the St. Louis Metropolitan Section of the Missouri APA twice.

Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and a master’s degree in Urban Planning and Real Estate Development from Saint Louis University.  He also completed the coursework in the Masters of Public Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Matt has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) since 2003.
