Dan Bartman is a Senior Planner for the City of Somerville, Massachusetts and a zoning and permitting consultant to towns and cities across the country. Dan has 10 years of experience writing zoning ordinances for municipalities in a variety of states including Utah, Mississippi, West Virginia, Georgia, California, Connecticut, Michigan, and Massachusetts. Most recently, Dan rewrote the 30-year-old Somerville Zoning Ordinance into a user-friendly document designed to change the City’s regulatory system into a customer-oriented, character driven means for shaping new development. Dan has a comprehensive understanding of various zoning techniques, a talent for simple yet defensible legal writing, and expertise in regulatory analysis and legislative drafting. In his free time Dan enjoys urban sketching and traveling to far away cities with his wife.
