Chris Caperton

Chris Caperton is a professional planner with experience in transportation, environmental, land use, community outreach and facilitation, and preservation planning. His private sector experience supported developers and federal agencies such as the DOE, DOT, FAA, FERC, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Surface Transportation Board, and DARPA, and state and municipal agencies in Michigan, Texas, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. He became the Laurel Hill Project Manager for Fairfax County, Virginia, in 2005, and also served as a Branch Chief of Public Facility Planning prior to being named a Deputy Director in the Office of Community Revitalization in 2017. His preservation experience includes Master Planning for the historic elements of Wright-Patterson AFB, historic and cultural assessments for various state and federal highway and pipeline projects, and studies associated with the adaptive reuse of the former Lorton Prison properties, including archaeological investigations, Historic Structure Reports, National Register nominations, and the development and implementation of Historic Preservation Standards and Guidelines. He received his BA from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from Texas A&M University.
